Length of Practice in Singapore: 1 year 8 months
Membership with PA(S): 2015 to 2016
Past PA(S) committee: Vice-President 2016
It has been a honour to be able to serve in the Podiatry Association (Singapore). In the past year, we have, as an organisation, been able to reach out to the community through several events.
As a committee member, I would like to increase community awareness of our Association through various platforms such as educational talks (to organisations, community centres), marathons and schools.
It is also very important to look after the needs of our own members. While we promote our profession as a whole, we need to have input and to update our skills and knowledge on a regular basis. I would like to propose an increase in the scope of our continued education. A broad range of topics from management of clinical conditions to practice management will benefit us.
I would also, as part of the association, like to connect with our members on a more frequent basis and increase their engagement with the Association. A strong Association is a united one. I believe that in order for us to be effective, we need to act as a united body. Active participation in events is what I believe in. We can charter our podiatry journey together and improve our exciting profession, if we are one. We need to increase the public’s awareness of our profession, and this is possible, with all of us playing our parts.
I am committed to seeing our Association stand out as an example of a united, forward-thinking and innovative professional body. We can improve our profession. I believe that there are many people in need of our help, but unable to access it. We can and must be the catalyst to change that.
With this vision, I seek the opportunity to serve as Vice-President, to further our profession, reach out to the community and care for our members.
Leon attended approximately 79% of PA(S) events in 2015-17.
